Close to the Heart

My dear aunt send me this beautiful, emotional and heartfelt (literally) message today. Rather than send it on to 12 people, I will post it here. If anyone feels the need to copy and past it, please feel free and pass it along.

My heart and blessings tonight is also with the Regev and Goldwasser families as they begin to learn the truth about their kidnapped Israeli sons.

y Heart

Give this heart to everyone you don't want to lose in 2008, including me if you care.
Try to collect 12, It's not easy!

Never take someone for granted
Hold every person close to your heart
Because you might wake up one day
And realize that you've lost a diamond
While you were too busy collecting stones.

Friendship, life, love and people are so very precious. Gratitude is a gift of the soul.

Thank you for your minds.

What a nice and true sentiment. I passed it along on my blog.

I had trouble with the smiley face though.

Thank you, WW. Good to 'see' you, and I appreciate that you stopped by here.

It is really a nice, meaningful sentiment.

Me, I like picking up stones and rocks
others seem to pass by
but I find something beautiful there,
something not always in the eye.

I also do this with people I meet,
I don't tend to be picky about it.
I pay attention whenever I greet,
and listen to their wisdom or wit.

I know it's hard for some to do
especially whenever y'mention religion.
There are those that take sides again you
if y'mention your love of Jew, Atheist, Islam, or Christian.

It probably helps if you're a good looking fox
like yourself, Barbara from California.
But, truthfully, girl, I can't see what's in the box....
but your beauty is something that'll always adorn ya.

(ps
if I had thought it was going to be all that, I would have titled it
Plain stones are pretty, too)

Very nice, Barbara. I need to write a card soon, and I think this will be perfect for the occasion.

say...there's a video over at artistberryconnell.blogspot.com, and I put it there for you, gal.
I just thought a flower for such a nice person was called for.

Plus, music by Tom Waits. Hey, can't beat flowers AND music, can ya?

That poem strikes me particlarl because the students I teach are the ones who have been assessed and thrown away. People don't believe they can accomplish anything, and finding the diamond in the rough can be demanding. I have several new tactics this year, but one is to constantly remind myself that no matter what my kids say or do, there is a good person hiding in there somewhere, and they just need someone to care enough to find them.

There was actually someone who I was trying not to talk to because I love them so much that it hurts. After reading this though, I am going to pass it on because I don't know what I would do if I lost them.
