Your Secret Self

Writing for this blog has been a true and unique journey of self-discovery. My husband, who read some of the posts last night, asked me if I felt a certain kind of pressure now to make my posts even more provocative, stimulating or engaging. The right answer, of course, was yes, but when I told him why, he became giddy and confused. I think Whit (please do see her blog) in her own wisdom hit the nail on the head when she said: "this blog was more for her entertainment than for yours." Even though this blog is interactive (I do want to know how you feel about a subject), I would be dishonest if I did not fess up to 'falling in love with my own words.'

Be that as it may, I started thinking this morning on this subject: if I was given the opportunity to do anything, what would it be (not necessarily a career, but one thing is good enough)? I used to think I wanted to conduct a symphony orchestra, when I was younger, but today, I think that would take too much work. My own answer became clear to me one day, when driving down the streets of Manhattan, weaving in and out of lanes, challenginig the taxi cabs, as one man got out and tried to spit on my car! What a thrill..The adreneline was never-ending! My husband, on the other hand, was agast and thought of taking the subway rather than leave the driving to me.
I thought about this, and I had the same rush when I drove in Barcelona, Madrid, and even Tijajuana (the highway was designed by a madmad, but a creative one.) Then it occurred to me: What I would really want to do is drive a race-car. (I know Paul Newman and Colin Powell are doing it; this is not an original idea by any means.) To me, the race car, not the baton, would be the ultimate symbol of power, control and rush...(courting danger, avoiding it, creating it.)

If you could do anything once, what would it be and why?

Thank you for your mind.

I like bridger. Bridger, are you available? I don't care what size your penis is.

Anyway, to answer the current question: I'd REALLY love to climb a mountain. I had an experience once with rock climbing that was out of this world. I can't even describe the elation I felt when I reached the top. There's nothing like climbing to keep you totally in the present. It's a transcendent experience.

Bridger and Babs, come visit my blog and tell me what your five alternate occupations are. I'm at yellingfireinacrowdedtheater.blogspot.com.

I'd like to be able to travel just once by myself, every year. :) Alternatively, I'd like to hang glide (provided I'd not be killed in the process. I have NO desire to be killed doing anything).

I did not post on this thread when you first introduced it.

I know why now! There is nothing I want to do that I have not done.
Nothing that burns within me, no passion unfulfilled to yearn for.

I had wanted all of my life to go to Rome and to Sicily before I was 50. These are the homes of my mother's and father's families. I am grateful that I was able to do that.

Maybe there is something sad about not having a burning desire for something out of reach, but I am content.

Space, the final frontier.... I'd like to be an astronaut. I want to see our planet as the moon sees it. I want to experience zero-G, I want to experience the thrill of re-entry. Now that would be an experience!
