I have Had Enough, But Will Keep My Cool
Someone has used my name sake, calling himself barbarianfromcalifornia to throw hurls on other people's blogs. I think this is distasteful and childish.
What should I do? Change my blog's name to HaShem or Moschiah, or TheTorah, or something that would be sacred and not subjected to this kind of horror!
The example you people are setting for yourselves and their fellow Jews is beyond terrible.
I will not take the name of God in vain, especially for people who show no respect towards the Torah themselves. I am keeping my old name, and will post as I see fit, staying strong and not letting these ill and mentally unbalanced individuals get to me. I have added a picture to my profile, of a golden retriever on a pez container, so that it can be used for identification. When we know someone is sick, either mentally or physically, we must pray for them and that is what I will do for now for this misguided soul.

I am beyond disgusted, and greatly saddened that this mayhem must occur from one of our own. But if these people believe in the power of the Torah, their time will come, I am certain, if it has not done so already. These people feel as if we are not 'proper' Jews, rotted by the vestiges of assimilation, but look who and what was the first to post below when I discussed a topic about my son and his trip to Israel. Who is demeaning who? Only after total disgust, judgment and pent up frustration did I feel the need to post about the Bad Boys of Boro Park. This culture of intolerance and judgment is very upsetting and not something born out of true Torah.
I plan to ignore them, keep this post up, and I have notified blogspot.com of the problem, and go on to insure the quality exchange and discourse that previously existed on this blog.
Thank you for your minds.

Ignore this Barbara. People will know it is not you.
If this person is using the name to be offensive on other peoples blogs, then blogspot.com should be informed.
This type of behaviour is sinister. Ignore it, and continue with your life.
Anyway, still looking for all these hot topics!...not that your blog hasn`t had it`s fair share of heat lately...but international topics we can all share and get our wee teeth into!
In Scotland right now, the authorities have been more than heavy handed with the peaceful G8 protestors. The heavy handed approach of the police seems to have caused most of the trouble.
Civil liberties have definately been violated here this week.
Personally, watching the news reports here, with a growing sense of alarm, I am ashamed that this has happened in my country.
I thought we were better than that.

Actually, I have changed my name back to what it is.
I am not going to be intimidated by some unstable and sadly ill person (people) with mental health issues.
I only hope that God will help them and grant them peace.
I haven't seen this much drama since middle school. I agree with some of the other comments -- anyone who would go to the trouble to create a fake name is a nutcase who has no life and is trying to bait you. Ignoring it is what will bother him/her the most. If the bullies see that they can't get to you, they will find someone else to pick on.

This is Karen (SoCalWoman). I know that it is much easier for me to tell you to ignore than it is for you to do it. This malicious clone with no life of their own is sick, and I applaud your resolution to pray for them to receive the help that they need.

Barbara: I'm not sure I follow your logic. If you intend to ignore these comments, why would you post a link to them on your blog? For that matter, writing an entire post about them is not exactly ignoring, is it?
You have come rather late to the post, thc. I had actually changed my blog name, as this poster was using a likeness of my name, and other people were of the impression that I had made the comments. To me, this was responding, by acting and/or reacting to the poster's post. When I say that I was choosing to ignore, it meant that I went back to my old user name, with the helpful comments of Scott and Doug, and added a picture as well. I posted a link to show how my name was being used, to clarify, and perhaps draw light to the confusion.

If you ask me, anyone who is going to attack someone for blog comments has no life. Leave them to their misery.
If people want to copy-cat your blog name, it just shows that they need to grow up. That is junior high school stuff.

I agree with everyone who thinks ignoring this king of behavior is the best thing. This kind of attack is juvenille and as Doug said it doesn't take much effort to see who is behind the remarks made in the comment sections of a blog.

Changing your name just gives into them. They only affect your life if you let them change your life.
Continue your life as always, with no changes. Just be yourself.
Then they have lost.
They are sad people who obviously have little in their lives to worry them.
There are people in London today who have lost their lives, and casualties who have lost limbs...and all these people have to worry about is setting up fake blognames to terrorise people they don`t agree with on the internet.
