Is the Bush Administration on a Downward Spiral?

These past couple of weeks have been plagued with difficulties for Mr. Bush. Beginning with his slow response to Katrina, Bush now faces fire and brimstone over the role Karl Rove has played in leaking information regarding CIA agent, Valerie Plume, and a possible indictment for him as well as Dick Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis Libbey. Additionally, Mr. Cheney's role, or lack thereof, in these leaks is also being investigated. As if the investigation and possibleindictment of these two individuals is not enough, Mr. Bush is being questioned regarding his nomination of his close friend and counsel, Harriet Miers to the U.S. Supreme Court. Questions range from Ms. Miers political beliefs from members of his own party, to her lack of judicial experience as well. Not to mention, the Los Angeles Times had reported earlier this week that Ms. Miers, who has not ever been married, nor had children, will be called upon to deal with some very serious privacy issues about women, men and reproductive rights in her possible role as a Justice of the Supreme Court.

After initially promising to fire anyone who has leaked information, Bush has begun to back-pedal, and now indicates that he will fire anyone who has committed a crime. Moreover, almost two months after hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast causing diassaster, Bush, who went on television and promised to rebuild the region quickly, seems, as reported by the Los Angeles Times today, to be in no hurry to make good on his promise.

Here are the questions for the day: Do you think Karl Rove should be indicted? Will he be indicted? What if anything would you want to know about which would possibly implicate Cheney in these matters? Do you believe that because Ms. Miers has never been married nor has had children that these factors will necessarily thwart her ability to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court and decide such privacy issues as those dealing with abortion, privacy matters, and the right to die? Do you believe that ultimately Bush will be held reposing for any of these matters?
