We all Have Our Vices
Each one of us surely has one type of vice or another. Some of us smoke, drink, gamble, watch pornography, are unfaithful to our spouses, spend too much time on the computer, blogging. My favorite vice, I must confess, is usually fostered on December 26th each and every year, but with the age of the internet, I am able to indulge in this unbridled passion, without exercising even a molucue of control on the 25th of December. That vice is shopping.
I love to shop, and more often than not spend more than can be afforded. My passions range from make-up, to perfumes, to clothing, and purses. Now that I am going back into the public work force, my justification for spending as much as I have on the internet is made, and yesterday, it seemed as if there was no end in stopping me. I went to saks.com, neimanmarcus.com, burberry.com, bergdorfgoodman.com and j.crew.com and racked up a bill that would make my husband's blood boil. What can I say: I am addicted to shopping and have very little control in this area. I also am addicted to reading, but this indulgence does not nearly have such a high cost. That being said, I do not smoke, drink, gamble, cheat, or engage in other activities, which may constitute a vice, except for maybe blogging.
Here is the question of the day: What are your vices? Do you think or try to give them up at any time? For me, I do not plan to give up shopping nor, and know it is a lost cause to make any effort to do so.
For those who celebrate, wishing each and every one of you a meaningful and Happy 2nd day of Hanukah.
Thank you for your minds.

We have no money to spend on vices so I've been forced to give them up: drinking, smoking, smoking, spending. Now, I'm just bored all the time, so I guess that's my vice: being bored.
Well, I did not mention that we do have BIG, actually HUGE debts!
Drinking Coca-Cola. Eating. Blogging. Avoiding housework.
My vice...I smoke, I have tired many times to give it up. Someday I know I will.
Happy Hanukah to you Barbara!
I'm fickle with things. I want something, I buy it, I don't use/wear it long. I'm too impulsive.
Toying with the computer, whether it's blogging, downloading music, learning HTML code, installing software I don't need....
But, at least The Missus always knows where I am.
Buying things (not clothing-that just makes me tired), either for me or other people...especially books!
Vices? Yeah, I have them!
Give them up? Not yet. I did stop smoking for three and a half years but I didn't give it up.
Avoiding housework..is that a vice? I thought it was just good sense :)
I can't quite remember how I got here but it's fun. Happy new year!
Well, as an artist, I`m afraid I fit the stereotypical artist image...I have lots of vices.
But I enjoy them, and that`s what counts!
A wide range of vices here!
Forgot to list coffee as one too, and I am with you dddragon...I dispise housework!
My worse vice has been picking bad partners in the past. You know users, con artists, and assorted Italian giggalo... So I have to admit, my vice MEN.
I think I may have gave them up for Lent.
Sorta.......
I enjoy shopping as well...I tell my self I'm looking for the deals...LOL....And I'm addicted to the computer....and keeping everything clean!!!
Have a great day!!!
girls girls girls
i cannot live happy without a ton of them
Aren't vices like thrift shops, where one man's trash is another man's treasure?
My vices are rich foods (which I try to run quickly away from), good books (which absorb me so much that I will drop everything else and ignore the phone), and blogging (at times).
BTW, you're in my links now. I kept meaning to do it, but procrastination is another vice...
Procrastination and occasional gluttony. Both derive from the same underlying quality: I'm a sensualist and enjoy pleasurable experiences, so I want to prolong them. I'm particularly gluttonous with wine: when I'm sharing a good bottle with good company on a great day, I do NOT want it to end. Crack open another one!
I love to shop too, but since I pay all my own bills (DH and I have a joint account for home/life expenses but our own separate accounts for "indulgences") I have no one to blame but myself when I can't pay my Visa down each month. And I like to pay it down each month, or at most every few months, because I suspect that in a past life I lived through the Great Depression. :-)
The internet Shopping Mall is a very large one, indeed!
My vices are strong cheese, too much the perfectionist, and blogging, naturally.
Shopping seems to have lots of followers!
Mmm, strong cheese. Another vice is occasional, over the top binge-drinking and feeling the urge to do inappropriate dance moves.
I am clearly v vice-ridden
graib - rather too like the prison, if you ask me.
I suppose bargain shopping is my passion! I only buy things that we can use, most of the time. Yesterday I went out and spent $ 40.00 on gift items and Christmas candy for next year. I have a closet upstairs, called the gift closet, that I put my items in. I buy great items, at bargain prices, for weddings, birthdays, etc.
My real vise is eating. I love to cook and eat what I cook. This year, I have to get some of this weight off or I might endanger my health. I'm no spring chicken here. I really plan to do my part in taking better care of my temple. I'm sure my husband is glad I'm not a shopaholic. We only owe about $ 500.00 on credit cards. I paid cash for all of my Christmas.
My biggest vice is to drink huge amounts of coca cola, way too much. Perhaps I should pick up drinking or smoking, just to be more interesting :)(kidding)
My vices are shopping and eating too much and drinking too much caffeine.
Happy Shopping and Happy Holidays!
xo
