For My Beloved Astro: April 8, 1993 - February 6, 2006
My dearest Astro, it was so hard to let you go. I could not bear to endure watching you suffer and experience pain anymore, so letting go of you was for our best interests.
I will miss you so, so much. When you were a puppy, we used to go for long walks together, up until about a year ago, when you stopped walking. I will miss your golden hair all over my clothing, your burying your face inside of my elbows, your putting your paw over my arm, and holding your head up majestically, like some brave warrior. I will miss every Friday night, your waiting for Shabbos, sitting there while we lit the candles, said the kiddish, and after we broke challah together, you waited for your piece.
You were the receptacle for my tears and the caviity for all of my joy. You shared so many of life's good moments and burdens with me, and were always there unselfishly, wagging your tail and rolling over with complete abandon. A piece of my heart left with you today.
May you rest in peace, my beloved Astro. You were the light, the joy and the comfort of my life.
Thank you for your life, my dear sweet boy.
