A Day of Thanks
For Jews, it is the case that we are supposed to be thankful for each and every day. Not even our daily breathes are to be taken for granted, and so much around us, which we normally do not think about, gives us each pause to think, and show our gratitude.
Today is a different Thanksgiving for our family. Our son is out of state, our daughter in the hospital, and we will go visit there later, but she is showing signs of improvement, little by little, and I am truly thankful to God for these tiny steps, no matter how small.
Thanksgiving reminds us to be grateful, to give thanks. I am thankful today that I can see my blessings as gifts, which I used to take for granted. I am also thankful that today, I can be there for others when they truly need me, and vice-versa. It amazes me, truly, how many wonderful self-less individuals there are in this world. Despite the difficulties and challenges that have faced our family this year, and those we have seen around us affected by Katrina, the war in Iraq, and the toll of the cost of living, we still see faces of thanks, eyes that sparkle with hope, lives that spring forward with gratitude.
May this day open your eyes, so that each and every day you can be thankful for all that you have.
Thank you for your minds.
